Physical infrastructure that enhances safety for bicyclists can also contribute to community greening and beautification.

Our 4’-long STEELGREEN® Planters are multi-purpose structures designed for bike lane buffer zones: protective, green, portable, and customizable to promote community identity. Made of 100% steel and galvanized for rust resistance, their strong, durable basin is also available in numerous colors, and their forklift-ready base can be anchored to the surface for added stability.

Additional options include a self-watering system for maintenance reduction, and a PEDISTILL® Hand+Foot Rest for Planters located at intersections.

STEELGREEN Planters are also appropriate for placement in transit corridors, streetscapes, pedestrian malls, urban plazas, corporate and academic campuses, and more.

Customize for Your Community

STEELGREEN Planters’ sleek, contemporary design offers an ideal customization opportunity using colors and imagery.  Basins are available in a galvanized finish, or in an array of durable powder coat colors (applied over galvanized) to enhance the aesthetic or to align with a community’s identity.  Clean, hardware-free side panels conveniently accommodate city logos, wayfinding graphics, or even a sponsor’s branding/ messaging with adhesive-back decals/signage.

Self-Watering

Improve plant health, reduce water waste and decrease maintenance costs with optional self-watering systems. Place the reservoir in Planter, attach tube, and fill with water. Plants’ root systems absorb moisture as needed. Excess water drains through holes in all four corners of the Planter’s basin.

Add a Handy PEDISTILL Hand+Foot Rest

The PEDISTILL is a two-part steel accessory that turns STEELGREEN Planters into convenient red-light rest stops when located in bike lane buffer zones at signalized intersections. Bicyclists grab, hold, and stay on their bikes while waiting for the green light.

Available in galvanized finish.  Choose the hand rail, the foot plate (with non-skid surface), or both.
